After living there for 20 years, she saw herself as an immigrant, rather than an expat. I'm in the toothpaste aisle at Target, dumbfounded by a selection that runs several shelves long and as many high. After more than 20 years in Cuba, where Close-Up and La Perla were the only choices for most of that time, I'm overwhelmed by the number of options. In Cuba, moreover, women have full autonomy over their bodies, which I feel is the only way it should be. Comfort food, like a juicy hamburger, is one of the great things about living back in the US.

Tesla has laid off most of its charging team, causing confusion about the future of its Supercharger network. Virtually all major automakers have adopted Tesla's charging techTesla has committed to doubling its network size in-party with public money. The automakers Tesla partnered with can already access existing plugs, but the recent layoffs raise questions about the network's future growth. Opinion | Why I Can’t Wait for the Sun to Go Dark

In 1991, I went to Teotihuacán, Mexico, to watch a total solar eclipse from the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. At the time of totality, it just got really dark. I didn’t see a hole in the sky surrounded by a shimmering corona or any other eclipse phenomena: Baily’s beads, the diamond ring. Eclipse-watching, on the other hand, is very much like economics in that it’s vulnerable to all kinds of uncontrollable effects. “People laugh, cry, stare dumbfounded, jump up and down,” Peter Tyson, editor in chief of Sky & Telescope magazine, wrote in a special issue this year.

A former Biden family business associate levied critical but unproven allegations against President Joe Biden in a closed-door House interview Tuesday, resurrecting claims he has lobbed since 2020. He further said he believed the multi-million-dollar business deals secured by Joe Biden’s son and brother only materialized “because Joe Biden was in high office.” He said, “the Biden family business was Joe Biden, period,” and specifically mentioned Joe Biden’s alleged role in a lucrative proposed deal with a Chinese energy conglomerate. “He had two encounters with President Biden in back-to-back days in May of 2017 that seemed extremely casual,” Raskin said. Despite providing information to the FBI, federal prosecutors haven’t cited his materials in the sweeping tax indictment filed against Hunter Biden. In a 2012 episode of "Kitchen Nightmares" Gordon Ramsay called a grilled lettuce dish "hideous." Ramsay later incorporated grilled romaine lettuce in a menu for a NASCAR event, Fox Sports reported. A viewer who spotted it called Ramsay out and suggested he should apologize. In the clip, Ramsay seemed astonished to find grilled caesar salad on the menu, and asked a server if it was a misprint. Magnusson said that while she used USAA for a personal loan in the past, this time, the process felt very different. Lately, it may take more than just a good credit score for many people to get approved for a loan. Deutsche Bank recently told investors that bank lending conditions look “consistent with recession levels,” even though the US is not currently in a recession. Magnusson said she was “in tears” after spending hours on the phone with USAA to secure the loan over multiple days. U.S. Dollar banknotes are seen in this illustration taken July 17, 2022. Data out on Wednesday showing U.S. private payrolls rose more than expected in July boosted the greenback, as the figures pointed to continued labour market resilience which is likely to keep U.S. rates higher for longer. SAINT GERVAIS, France, July 16 (Reuters) - Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar have made such a huge impression in the Tour de France that, in a sport that was marred by doping scandals, doubts about their performances have arisen but Denmark's defending champion welcomes the scepticism. On Sunday, Pogacar and Vingegaard clocked 18:27 on the final climb, beating four-time Tour winner Chris Froome's record by 42 seconds. "So yes, I fully understand the questions we're getting about it (our performances)," said Vingegaard. CNN —Soccer players and fans were left dumbfounded after a referee and his officials failed to award a goal after the ball crossed the line by about half a meter. Inside the opening 10 seconds of Colo-Colo’s Chilean Cup match against Unión La Calera, Colo-Colo defender Alan Saldivia played a wayward pass back to goalkeeper Fernando de Paul. To make matters worse, before La Calera could even make its case to the officials, Colo-Colo went up the other end and immediately scored to make it 1-0.
